Award winning children’s musician and therapist, MISS JULIEANN, brings a chorus of coping skills to her latest--a dazzling, roots-infused romp with a therapeutic focus
*The album, RESILIENT CHILD, was created to teach resilience skills to children and will be available on all downloadable platforms, September 22, 2023*
On September 22, parents, educators, and kids will tune in as renown children’s artist and therapist, MISS JULIEANN, offers up mental health melodies on her latest album. RESILIENT CHILD, is a playful dive into Americana that spins emotional strategies into gorgeous harmonies with resonant verve.
The buoyant album, characterized as, “Disney meets Nickel Creek”, proves that heady concepts can become an irrepressible, musical rumpus in the right hands. RESILIENT CHILD, features songs about developing support systems, coping skills, emotional expression, and self-worth by a professional music therapist.
The album is informed by Miss Julieann’s academic background, personal connection to the material, and years of experience. Julieann Hartley, MT-BC, NMT and NTP is a board-certified music therapist and children's musician. After working as a community music therapist, she released her first kid’s album,
THERAPEUTIC SONGS FOR KIDS, which captured hearts, winning the 2019 Parents' Choice award.
The inspiration for RESILIENT CHILD, came as the intuitive therapist found music therapy to be an effective support tool for babies going through opioid withdrawal in the NICU, as well as for children in the foster care system recovering from abuse, trauma and neglect. According to Hartley,
“I wanted to help end the intergenerational trauma cycles that were fueling these addiction and abuse patterns. Teaching resilience skills as young as possible helps kids withstand the long-term neurological impacts of stress and trauma, preventing them from experiencing neurological deficiencies that might lead to future chronic illness or risky behaviors.”
Miss Julieann is no stranger to resilience, herself. As a disabled woman, suffering from the impacts of a severe neurological infection, she wants to make sure every child has the skills to handle life's inevitable challenges.
Her sonic toolkit includes songs like: Who Are the People You Go To? (feat. Laurie Berkner)--a rollicking anthem to support systems, Where Do You Feel Safe? (feat. Harlem based children's hip hop artist, Fyütch)—a sentimental ode to the all-important safe space, and, I am Enough (feat. Propel Schools
Performing Arts Academy)—a mantra-filled gem about worthiness. In true therapist fashion, each song asks a question to help kids discover their personal answers. The album allows listeners to find resilience in a way that matches their unique spirit on the path ahead.
THE RESILIENT CHILD, available on September 22, 2023, brings a fresh approach to the mental health landscape, while its dizzying melodies make us want to sing along!
